Cake Decorating Tips And Techniques

i need help with Cake Decorating Tips And Techniques please?

what’s the best type of Icing to decorate a cake with? i’d like one that would become stiff and not runny or globby. all the recipes i’ve tried always end up really runny and it looks like a goopy mess when i’m done.
does anyone have a really good recipe or any advice to what i may be doing wrong? thank you! :)

I prefer to Decorate Cakes with Buttercream Icing because I like to eat the icing later… it can be too soft, though there are various recipes and ways to stiffen it, etc.

“Royal icing” is what’s often used on cakes instead of butttercream icing when stiffness is very important, but it doesn’t really taste good and will be really hard after drying…. looks great though.

A lot of people are using sheets of “Fondant” too these days (and making little figures, etc, with it too). That’s not something you’d extrude through icing tips though.
